It's likely they have some good concepts, maybe some good gameplay, buy they have fallen down in creating the enormous amount of content an MMO needs before launch. The chances of them having a completed, great MMO and sitting on it are so close to zero as to be non-existent. NetDevil has yet to respond, but if the development funds were tied into specific milestones, as the complaint alleges, this may be an open-and-shut case. We applauded the delay then, but with the game still stuck in development hell and the publisher at the end of its patience, it looks like the time of reckoning has come. The team also said it realized how disastrous a poor launch could be for an online title. When we spoke with NetDevil in 2009 about the game's delay, we were told the mission structure was being perfected. ![]() According to the complaint, the game's source code should be placed in escrow, although NetDevil has "failed and refused to place the source code into any escrow." We're near the end of 2010, with no game in sight. "The agreement obligated NetDevil to achieve a series of defined development milestones by dates certain and to complete the development of the game for commercial release on or before February 25, 2009." "In compliance with its obligations under the agreement, Codemasters paid defendants $1.1 million in advances to date and $299,629.67 in art assets costs," the complaint alleges. At stake is the $1.4 million given to NetDevil for the game's development. No one is more frustrated than Codemasters, the game's publisher, and it has filed a complaint against the game's developer for failing to deliver the promised product. Jumpgate Evolution looked strong the last time we played it in 2009, and the community's reaction to our coverage was enthusiastic.
